Week 1
When I was kid, I have watched many episodes of Shaktima(a)n, a super hero series in Hindi. When I thought about diversity, the first thing that came to my mind was this series because it adopts the ideas that we have seen in the American super heroes, but has the traditional Indian cosmic elements added to it, to entertain the appropriate audience.
Week 2
The most enjoyable aspect in my study abroad in Ecuador was the food. There, they always used the organic and unprocessed food materials straight out of the gardens to prepare food. Everything was so delicious that I could not complain about anything. We were amused to know someone who knew everything about the forest. It was interesting to create 'legendary' stories of him encountering the wilderness, just like what we have seen in Tarzan.
Week 3
Looking from a perspective of fellow Americans, I am also contributing to the diversity. I was born and brought up in a different culture. I totally did not know how living in a country away from my home. I also didn't know how I should delve into a culture that was totally different. And I took me some while and help from good friends to make me more Americanized. But the problem after I got blended is that I somehow lost part of my identity. People from here tells I am an Indian. But hey, people in India says I am American now. Do I belong to both places or do I not belong to anywhere?
Week 4
I have been in UK for 3 months with the study abroad program at UGA. I did not travel much around Europe, but I got to understand much about the local town in Oxford. I have experienced India and I have experienced the USA. And when I was in the UK, I felt the mixture of both. Most places in UK were crowded, just like I would see anywhere in India. Infrastructure and facilities were of a typical developed nation. But some things were different in UK. First, people are so so much friendly. I believe most of the buildings in Oxford were at least 200 to 300 years old. Soccer is the biggest sport over there. And the amazing thing that I came across was how they maintain the lawn in the college courtyards.
Week 5
Super bowl was the biggest thing that happened during this week. And I think this is the first time for me watching a super bowl with friends. We put a party up and we had beer and alcohol. Doing the same thing in India would be almost forbidden because drinking is perceived to be illegal even if it is not. In such cases, youngsters have to take chances and hide their drinking habits. They would have to have hidden parties for some fun.
Week 6 http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/07/us/five-things-tuesday-trnd/index.html
The Trump administration is coming up with the bill to repeal and replace the Obamacare. I strongly believe that primary health care should be free for every one in this country. I am coming from a country where primary healthcare is free. People may argue that our health care has better quality because it is expensive and it should stay expensive to stay better. I have been in UK and I have been to a hospital there. Comparing theirs with ours, their's healthcare is more reasonable, which is much affordable than ours and of good quality.
Week 7 http://www.nbc.com/the-tonight-show/video/priyanka-chopra-and-jimmy-celebrate-holi-with-a-messy-paint-fight/3484707
Holi is a festival of colors and it represents the triumph of good vs evil. And it is celebrated in the beginning of spring every year. To be honest, I have never celebrated Holi when I was in India and it took me to get to UGA to celebrate it. Holi is actually a North Indian festival which has now became familiar to most parts of India and is rather getting popular worldwide.
Week 8
Fentanyl is a drug that has been used as painkiller. Its production is banned by the United Nations because some chemicals used in its production are very dangerous. Here is a news that talks about fentanyl and its abuse. Fentanyl is related to the death of pop star Prince. Out of all people, celebrities should not be allowed to do these illegal activities that are dangerous, because they influence people in different parts of the world. Their crazy followers imitate them blindfolded, no matter what there culture and background is. http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/19/cnn10/ten-content-mon/index.html
Week 9 http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/18/opinions/chuck-berry-seymour/index.html
I have not heard about Chuck Berry before this news I read. He is said to have influenced great performers including the Beatles. He is the first Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. I think he has influenced many culture by his own music and also influencing many artists that are still on the fame.
Week 10
Sixth nuclear test in North Korea is exciting the entire world because of the differences in opinions between the nations and a possible threat to another World War. People in all parts of the world are looking at this event very fearfully. http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/13/cnn10/ten-content-fri/index.html
Week 12
We celebrated Easter last week. Easter eggs was a new thing when I was introduced to the US 4 years ago. In India, we had our own traditional "easter eggs". Members of the church donate eggs and the committee prepare hard boiled eggs and decorate them. The priest blesses them and they are served at the end of the easter vigil. It represents the new beginning.
Week 13
I watched the movie Fast and furious: fate of the furious. Movie itself is a mixture of cultures. Latin American and American cultures can be seen as well as characters from Europe. This franchise has been accepted worldwide for a while now. My friends in all parts of the world are big fans of movies of this sequence. Movies like these has made them more interested in American muscle cars like Mustangs and Chargers and Challengers.
Week 14 http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-39644453
Tensions are rising between North Korea and rest of the world. People are fearing of a third world war. I recently came across a meme posted by my friend on Facebook saying that he is afraid to get drafted to the army and sarcastically adds it is possible to change genders to avoid that. It was funny and also a serious issue we are worried about nowadays.

Week 11
Bombings in Syria. I heard that the mighty US missiles hit Afghanistan and Syria to kill a bunch of ISIS members.
http://www.latimes.com/politics/washington/la-na-essential-washington-updates-white-house-drops-mother-of-all-bombs-1492102824-htmlstory.html
There were civilians dead by the attack as well.
I also heard from my church that two churches were bombed in Egypt
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/04/09/world/middleeast/explosion-egypt-coptic-christian-church.html?_r=0
And during prayer we prayed for the people who suffered the church bombings. The first thing that popped up in my mind was what made us not pray for the people that suffered Syrian and Afghani bombings. We inflicted those fatalities. We have our own reasons to support that, but that does not make them of lesser value.
